Celebrating Unsung Heroes – Body Vibes

Celebrating Unsung Heroes – Body Vibes

What’s your favorite body part? No not on you. Your favourite part?

This is a leadership series on the four dimensions of successful servant leaders I wrote and published with Youth Action Northern Ireland.

Four Dimensions of Inspired Leaders

Successful leaders engage four dimensions in holistic attempts to be their best and bring their best in everything they do in the pursuit of excellence. The four dimensions explore the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of everyone’s life as we pursue health, well-being and success.

1. Physical Dimension of Leadership

Do you every find your self to busy driving to stop or gas? Physical dimension is about personal self-care and honors the physical body as a harmonious electrical organism that requires charging and tuning. As a leader you cannot lead with a drained battery. You can’t start the car and doesn’t go anywhere if the batter is dead. Think of the car as your organization think of you as the battery and that current jump start currently gets things going make things happen. Your commitment and dedication to supporting your physical dimension of energy will keep your personal health in order for you to do good it work day after day.

“It isn’t the mountain ahead that wears you out; but the grain of sand in your shoe.” – Robert Service

There are three main areas of challenge that hard-working leaders often neglect during their demanding days.

A. Diet: It is well known that the quality of the food and liquids you consume has profound effect on your bodies capacity to thrive and function at an optimal level of energy. Eat as fresh and as local as you can and hydrate the body with good water and use common sense. For more complex considerations consult a health care practitioner or nutritionist for professional advice and remember dark chocolate is good for you!

B. Exercise: The simple rule is “move it or lose it.” Movement stimulates natural chemicals in the body called endorphins that give you a feel sense of well-being and help reduce stress. You can get this natural high by committing to some form of exercise at the style and level of challenge that’s best for your body and personality. Spend between a minimum of an hour each day dancing, walking, riding, laughing, swimming, or other creative ways to get moving.

C. Sleep: Many people talk about life balance and think of balancing work versus home life. Unfortunately many people forget about one the greatest balance relationships. This is the balance between giving energy during the day and restoring energy at night through rest and sleep. Don’t under estimate the importance of sleep. The average persons spends 26 years of their life in bed so do the best you can to make what ever is left the best sleep possible.

William Shakespeare underscores the value of deep restoring slumber, “Sleep that knits up the ravell’d sleeve of care, the death of each day’s life, sore labor’s bath, balm of hurt minds, great nature’s second course, chief nourisher in life’s feast.”…

You Can Cure Constant Fatigue and Tiredness – Scientific Tips

You Can Cure Constant Fatigue and Tiredness – Scientific Tips

If you are constantly tired it could be due to several reasons. For many people extreme physical exertion or mental pressure could result in chronic fatigue. For some others it could be due to prolonged illness or due to medications they are taking.

Yet others may have this problem because of stress and depression. The problem could also be due to allergies in some people. So you see the reasons for chronic fatigue syndrome can be innumerable.

Your doctor would be the best person to diagnose the issue and identify the possible causes of this problem. There are no standard tests to determine the causes of constant fatigue and tiredness, however the doctor can arrive at a conclusion based on the process of elimination. One by one, those things will be eliminated which are not causing this disorder till finally you can arrive at something that could be behind the fatigue problem.

If during the diagnosis, you stumble upon something that is likely to be causing problem then you can easily give up that thing in order to put an end to the fatigue problem. However if no possible explanation or cause comes to the fore during diagnosis then you have to follow certain general steps.

1. Get good sleep: Your problem could be because you are not sleeping for long enough or the quality of sleep is not good. Try to maintain regular sleeping hours as irregular sleep patterns would affect the quality. Make sure the room is well ventilated and dark while sleeping.

Some people sleep too much. They spend about 9-10 or more hours in a day sleeping. Realize that too much sleep is also bad and it might be making you further sleepy and less inactive. Try to strike a balance between too much and too little sleep.

2. Get some activity: Too often lack of physical activity may make us lazy and this will reduce our stamina over a period of time. If you want to improve your stamina you have to gradually start getting more active during the day.

Increase your physical activity or exercise in a slow manner so that you don’t overwhelm yourself. With sufficient amount of physical activity, you may find yourself feeling less tired.

3. Stay hydrated: Dehydration can drain out your energy. Statistics indicate many people in the USA are under-hydrated. This means they do not drink as much water as they should. This could lead to chronic fatigue syndrome as well.

When I stay hydrated, it does not mean to drink energy drinks or cola drinks. We need to stay away from them as far as possible if suffering from constant tiredness. Also stay away from caffeine related drinks. The best fluid to have is plain water.

4. Balanced diet: Missing out on important nutrients can be a cause for this disorder. Your body needs a healthy balance of all the important nutrients. So aim for a balanced diet as much as you can.

Healthy eating, staying hydrated, proper sleep and exercise can help in eliminating the problem to a huge degree. All these have to be done on a consistent basis if you want to see significant results. You should not follow the above tips for a few days and give them up when you don’t see results.…

How to Treat Fatigue With Zinc

How to Treat Fatigue With Zinc

So many people have hectic lives with their family and work obligations. This means fatigue can peak right around mid afternoon and that’s usually the time when someone reaches for another cup of coffee.

And for those who do suffer from fatigue, they know all too well how it hinders their potential from being their very best when it comes to their overall daily performance and ability to make decisions.

Fatigue has a variety of symptoms such as:

Digestive problems

Loss of appetite

Ongoing fatigue may also leave someone susceptible to catching a common cold or flu.

The good news is that zinc can help with fatigue issues. And not just any zinc, but specifically zinc from oysters.

By all means, avoid synthetic zinc made in laboratories. Instead, find a marine-based supplement which offers the most natural form of zinc.

Find a supplement which is organic and has bio-availability.

Simply, bio-available defines a substance such as a drug or supplement which the body absorbs. This is important, because nutritionally, the digestive system will soak up the nutrients which will move into the bloodstream.

A good oyster powder will have the ability to “transport molecules” such as peptides and amino acids.

Bio-availability is what enhances a supplement such as zinc.

Oysters have the largest amounts of zinc. Yes, even higher than red meat. A high quality oyster powder supplement is potent and packs a boost of effective results.

In addition to fatigue, a lack of zinc in the diet may also include:

Premature aging

Low libido

Prostate challenges

Compromised immunity

Macular degeneration

Oyster powder can also encourage the healthy growth and maintenance of hair, skin and nails.

Often described as one of the most important minerals in the body, it really promotes body enzyme activity.

The ocean is rich with nutrients. And adding an oyster powder into a diet is a wise decision because it’s such a natural choice.

An exceptional oyster powder will also have elements of zinc co-factors, such as:

All these trace ingredients are harmonious components for the body. They are also considered as “superoxide dismutases,” filled with antioxidants and ward off free radicals.

As with adding any new supplement to a diet, please consult with a health care professional beforehand.

While zinc from oysters can help with fatigue, as many can attest to, it can help with a host of other health issues.…
